The Art of Lovemaking and Sex

Can you imagine that there can be 64 arts of kamasutra? So lets deal with the different arts of performing the art of sex and the sexual activities. The Kamasutra is a classic guide to lovemaking, reflecting the social and sexual traditions of the times. Many consider the Kamasutra to be simply a manual of athletic sexual positions, but scholars view it as having more historical importance than a simple guide would have.

According to ancient Indian texts, man had 3 main goals in life - Dharma (duty and responsibility for your actions), Arta (gaining power through politics and wealth) and Kama (pleasure). Thus Vatsyayana in his book "Kamasutra" with the help of sensual poetic language explained the technique of love-making and explored fantastic sexual positions. So in a way these can be regarded as an aid to have a good sex in your married life. Kama is the enjoyment of appropriate objects by the five senses of hearing, feeling, seeing, tasting and smelling, assisted by the mind together with the soul. The ingredient in this, is a peculiar contact between the organ of sense and its object, and the consciousness of pleasure which arises from that contact that is called Kama.

The aim of the Sixty Four Arts of the Kama Sutra is not merely to be a good wife, but to be a skillful, playful, understanding, refined, sexual, beautiful and intelligent woman. The Kama Sutra also expresses cultivation of the male, his understanding of female nature and the importance of cultivating sensual moods and intimacy. The ancient Indians show great attention to detail of smell, light, music, food, drink and touch before intercourse can begin. A Ganika is a term given to the public woman who is endowed with good disposition, beauty and other winning qualities and also versed in the 64 different arts of kamasutra and receives a seat of honour in an assemblage of men. A man who is versed in these arts, acquainted with the arts of gallantry, gains very soon the hearts of women, even though he is only acquainted with them for a short time.

There are the different forms of arts of kamasutra that lead to the woman to become a ganika and is also useful for a married wife so that she can always be as attractive in her approach towards sex for her husband. These arts can be stated as one should be well versed in the field of singing. One should be able to play on musical instruments. The woman should have a curvy body and should have the flair for dancing. There should be a union of dancing, singing, and playing instrumental music. One should have the flair for writing and drawing and tattooing. The kama in a man increases when the woman spreads and arranges beds or couches of flowers, or flowers upon the ground. She should also be intelligently colouring the teeth, garments, hair, nails and bodies, should know the art of making beds and spreading out carpets and cushions for reclining. All of these comprise the art of kamasutra and lure the men.
